The objective of the Research Unit eRO-STEP (FOR 2990) is to improve our understanding of the X-ray emission of galactic sources at the endpoints of stellar evolution and diffuse X-ray emission in galaxies using the new all-sky survey data of eROSITA. In the first funding period we have started with pilot projects on very bright sources or source populations in the Milky Way and the Magellanic Clouds. We have studied calibration and other technical issues, instrumental and X-ray background, etc. and developed analysis routines. In the second funding period, we want to extend our study to fainter or more complex sources and source populations.
