The scientific network "Documentary School Education Research – Scientific Investigation Of School Education Based On The Praxeological Sociology Of Knowledge" (NeDoS) aims to develop a concept of Documentary School Education Research. This concept comprises lines of research based on the praxeological sociology of knowledge and using the documentary method. It focusses on different research objects in the field of school education: 1) school as an organization, 2) school culture, 3) school development, 4) teaching, 5) professionalism and the professionalization of school employees (esp. teachers and principals), and 6) research on other actors in schools (esp. students).In the concept of Documentary School Education Research, two aspects that can be separated analytically, but interact in the research process, intertwine: I) object-related knowledge, i. e. reconstructive research results according to the research objects mentioned above allowing to develop scientific theory, and II) basic theoretical approach, i. e. possibilities to produce new knowledge by using the praxeological sociology of knowledge. By applying the categories of the praxeological sociology of knowledge, a specific research perspective on school is taken. In doing so, the praxeological sociology of knowledge is involved in defining the research object, i. e. in defining what is meant by school. At the same time, the research field of school education can affect the praxeological sociology of knowledge. The categories of this basic theoretical approach can be defined more clearly by reflecting on research processes in schools. The proposed network deals with this interdependence. It focusses on the object-related knowledge, i. e. on the question how school education can be investigated scientifically based on the categories of the praxeological sociology of knowledge and by using the documentary method.Against this background, the concept of Documentary School Education Research firstly provides a systematic overview of the status of school education research based on the praxeological sociology of knowledge. Secondly, it points out the potential and the limits of this approach for the scientific investigation of school education. The concept of a corresponding Documentary School Education Research will be developed in working conferences in collaboration with external experts. Targeted results of the network are joint symposia, academic contributions to conferences, and the publication of an anthology.
