Project Details
Mechanisms of pulmonary vascular and right ventricular remodeling in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (B09*)
Subject Area
Cardiology, Angiology
Term
from 2020 to 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 268555672
Pulmonary hypertension (PH) due to heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is thought to be a major driver of RV remodeling. Using non-invasive daily pulmonary pressure monitoring and stress cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in addition to biventricular conductance catheter techniques, we will assess the pathophysiological mechanisms that trigger RV adaptation and maladaptive remodeling to increased left atrial pressure in HFpEF. Parallel experiments will be performed in three corresponding animal models. In addition, the effects of dapagliflozin and liraglutide on pulmonary hemodynamics and RV adaption will be investigated in a clinical registry and parallel animal experiments.
