Historical Technography of Online Commenting (B03)

The sub-project investigates the popularization of commenting on the World Wide Web. To this end, it draws on the method of technography and develops it further for media studies by linking digital methods with approaches of qualitative methods. A specifically developed tool (Technograph) helps to find updates of comment sections in the HTML source code of historical website corpora from the Internet Archive, which then structure interviews with web actors.
