Processes of sharing and dividing that act on the social space as well as power games, negotiations, losses, and refusals occur in music as concerted procedures and organized polyphony on various levels of plot and perception. Thus, polyphony is an important factor in the interweaving of art and politics. Polyphonic conventions function as intervening acts of distribution and definition of sound and time spaces in which what and who is seen and heard and can see and hear is negotiated.
