GPR15L peptide analogues as a novel treatment option for IBD (B08)

Subject Area Gastroenterology
Immunology
Term since 2022
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 375876048

Current therapeutic approaches for IBD mechanistically target downstream inflammatory pathways, but ignore upstream pathogenetic events such as dysbiosis. Our preliminary work shows that the peptide GPR15L, which is released by the colon epithelium shapes the intestinal microbiota and thereby counteracts experimental colitis. Here, we aim to develop peptide analogues of GPR15L as a novel therapeutic approach for IBD and translate the strategy into a phase Ib trial in patients with ulcerative colitis.
