Establishing versatile criteria for the decay of correlations in particle systems is a long-standing and fundamental problem in contemporary mathematical physics. The long-term goal of this project is to develop a novel and genuine continuum technique to prove decay of correlations in particle systems. To this end, we combine the well-established analytic approaches involving Witten Laplacians with techniques from stochastic geometry, in particular Stein and Stein-Malliavin methods. We work out this connection initially for one-dimensional hybrid lattice-continuum systems, and then extend the methodology to higher dimensional systems.
