The response of interacting quantum lattice systems with gapped ground states to local perturbations is expected and in many cases shown to be local. In our project, we plan to formulate and prove the locality of the adiabatic response and the ground state response for systems that behave like a gapped system only in some regions of space, both at zero and at positive temperature. As an application, we study the bulk-edge correspondence for quantum Hall systems on domains with boundaries, i.e., systems that behave like a gapped system in the bulk but do not exhibit a spectral gap due to states supported near the edges of the sample.
