We will extend our studies on the pathophysiological roles of renal chloride channels to the acid-activated anion channel ASOR which we have recently identified to be formed by TMEM206 proteins. ASOR plays a role in acidotoxicity and stroke, as well as in macropinocytosis of macrophages and other endocytic processes. It is highly expressed in apical endosomes of the proximal tubule. Using ASOR KO mice we will investigate its potential role in renal IRI and will examine its role in endocytosis in the proximal tubule.
