Project Details
Dissecting the basis of the cell death decisions mediated by p53 mutants (A05)
Subject Area
Cell Biology
Term
since 2023
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 471011418
The tumor suppressor p53 is one of the most frequently mutated genes in cancer cells. This project will investigate how p53 gain-of-function mutants, in contrast to wild type p53 or p53 deletion, regulate life/death decisions in the context of environmental signals. In particular, it will address how nutrient and oxygen supply impact on decision-making processes in cell death regulation. Computational modeling will be employed to construct the gene regulatory network that drives life/death decisions in these situations.
