Project Details
A multiscale analysis of synaptic turnover for modeling the dynamic changes that shape synaptic function (C12*)
Subject Area
Molecular Biology and Physiology of Neurons and Glial Cells
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 317475864
In our recent work, we identified brain aging as a condition that specifically slows down molecular turnover, unbalancing the mechanisms that normally ensure efficient synaptic function and plasticity. We now aim to develop a computational model of detailed synaptic turnover, and iteratively integrate the obtained experimental data, to identify the major potential bottlenecks in synaptic function (such as restriction in the availability of functional endocytic components).
