Project Details
Investigating the role of FOXF2 in regulating the neurovascular compartment using a human iPSC-based 3D BBB model. (A03)
Subject Area
Molecular and Cellular Neurology and Neuropathology
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 548585053
The project applies a fully iPSC-derived 3D blood-brain barrier (BBB) model to study the effects of FOXF2 deficiency on neurovascular function in small vessel disease. By modeling cellular interactions, iron metabolism, and lipid homeostasis in this model system, the project aims to dissect FOXF2-related mechanisms that impair BBB integrity and eventually result in neuronal loss. It seeks to provide mechanistic insights and complement findings from in vivo models.
