Project Details
Deciphering the role of perivascular inflammation after subarachnoid haemorrhage (B02)
Subject Area
Molecular and Cellular Neurology and Neuropathology
Term
since 2026
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 548585053
This project investigates how perivascular macrophages (PVMs) contribute to early microvascular dysfunction after subarachnoid haemorrhage (SAH). Using in vivo imaging and single-nucleus RNA sequencing, it aims to define how PVMs interact with vascular and parenchymal cells to induce microvasospasm. A special focus is on segment-specific effects (vascular and cellular zonation). The project will identify key molecular pathways and test novel therapeutic strategies to prevent delayed cerebral ischemia caused by PVM-mediated microvascular injury.
