The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will commence operations at CERN sometime next year. From then on LHC experiments will dominate the “energy frontier” for a decade or more. In order to maximize the scientific return from the very large investment made in the LHC and its experiments, coordinated international efforts are needed. In this project we will analyse signatures for, and tests of, extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics at the LHC. This includes the development of novel methods to detect new particles, and of novel methods to extract the as yet unknown parameters of these theories. At least initially our main focus will be on theories with softly broken supersymmetry, which are currently considered to be most likely to represent Nature. Of course, once real LHC data are at hand, we will focus on whatever scenario remains viable. We intend to do this in collaboration with the top collider physicists in Brazil.
