Chemical modification of proteins for the characterization of matrix-protein interactions (A04)

Subject Area Public Health, Healthcare Research, Social and Occupational Medicine
Biochemistry
Term from 2009 to 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 59307082

The aim of A. Beck-Sickinger is to improve the biocompatible properties of implants by specific coatings. For this purpose, multifunctional peptides are synthesized that bind to surfaces and carry mediators to improve wound healing. The peptides are structured via biocompatible bioorganic modification with segments of the ECM and specifically releasable proteins (e.g., CXCL12, chemerin, FGF2, VEGF) to increase the biocompatibility of the implants.
