Project Details
Modulation of hepatic and systemic manifestations of chronic liver disease by the signaling molecule Reelin (B10)
Subject Area
Gastroenterology
Term
from 2016 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 190586431
Based on our previous work the project investigates the role of hepatically derived Reelin in liver regeneration and fibrosis. For this purpose, a rat model of inducible Reelin inactivation was developed. Conditional Reelin inactivation in the liver using inducible Cre promoters allows the analysis of the role of Reelin in liver regeneration, studies on the influence of Reelin in a toxic liver damage model and its effect on steatohepatitis. In particular, our hypothesis that Reelin has an important role in the maintenance of the hepatic stem cell niche will be investigated.
