Project Details
Mechanisms and prediction strategies for refractory corticotroph tumours (B17)
Subject Area
Endocrinology, Diabetology, Metabolism
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 314061271
Project B17 focuses on corticotroph tumours, the most frequent cause of endogenous hypercortisolism. Refractory cases are particularly difficult to manage, but at present there are no approved validated markers for prognosis. We will draw on molecular findings to establish means for patient risk stratification, uncover genetic mechanisms behind aggressive and familial forms of the disease, and develop personalized drug testing strategies. Utilizing multicentre cohorts, long-read sequencing, and advanced omics, the project aspires to establish tools for functional precision medicine in patients with refractory corticotroph tumours.
