Complex hyper-Kähler varieties are a higher dimensional generalisation of K3 surfaces. The aim of this project is to study on the one hand the geometry of moduli spaces of hyper-Kähler varieties via modular forms and on the other hand to study general predictions concerning algebraic cycles on hyper-Kähler varieties in the case of hyper-Kähler varieties constructed as moduli spaces. The conjunction of both will shed light on the so-called tautological ring of hyper-Kähler varieties.
