The focus of the Priority Program ‘Entangled Africa’ (SPP 2143) is on intra-African interactions in the past as well as on processes that originated on the African continent and affected neighboring regions. Underresearched areas in the northern hemispheric part of the continent are targeted. Indicators for interaction (e.g., non-local objects or raw materials, innovative technologies), mechanisms of interaction (for example, the types of migration, exchange, and trade), and patterns of interaction (the role of the geographic situation of a settlement, climate and environmental changes, etc.) from 6000 to 500 BP are examined in detail.
