SPP 546:  Geochemische Prozesse mit Langzeitfolgen im anthropogen beeinflußten Sickerwasser und Grundwasser

Subject Area Geosciences
Term from 1995 to 2001
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5460789

In order to quantify anthropogenical influences, the studies concentrate on deeper groundwater in its structure as final result of a complex biogeochemical development from rain to seepage and the young groundwater close to the surface, and this development is analyzed in its individual steps. Laboratory experiments under controlled boundary conditions as well as field research above all are suited to broaden the state of knowledge; there is however much emphasis given on the parallel investigation of both paths. The number of test sites is limited, thus always leading to interdisciplinary studies of the investigated regions, with a comprehensive view at long-term effects of anthropogenical influences. A substantial part of the studies must always be the development of conceptual models and their conversion into computer models, since only with support of these models a prediction of long-term effects will result in controllable and transferable results. The studies in this priority programme are restricted to three main groups of dissolved constituents: natural organic matter, anthropogenical organic matter, environmental relevant metals.
